Hyde FC 4 - 0 Thackley FC
Hyde Reserves take victory at home to Thackley FC.
After last week’s excellent win away at Nelson, Hyde came up against a Thackley side who are currently sitting at the wrong end of the table and who they beat 2 - 0 at the start of the season
Thackley were stronger and more organised than the side we played in August, but it was Hyde who started the brighter of the two sides, Josh Morrell going close after 10 minutes with a drive from 25 yards which the keeper held. The game was a midfield battle with both sides competing physically for control of the Ball. Hyde took the lead on 25 minutes when the outstanding Adam Thurston shot from just inside the 18 yard box to put Hyde one up. Hyde were starting to get control and were having all the play but were finding it hard to create any clear chances. With the first half clock running down Andrew Fitzgerald put the ball over the bar from a corner and the referee blew for half time
HALF TIME Hyde FC 1 - 0 Thackley FC
The second half got underway with Hyde going close again in the first 5 minutes when Josh Morrell went on a run down the left with his low driven cross missing everyone in the middle. 50 minutes in, Thackley were struggling to get on the ball and had still not threatening the Hyde goal. They found themselves 2 down when Josh Croft finished off a good move with a well taken goal.
Hyde were now in total control and missed the chance to go 3 up with Derryn Ofori failed to convert a one on one with the Thackley keeper pushing the ball round the post for a corner.
Hyde made a couple of changes on 70 minutes which paid off with two quick goals. Jason Jeffries found himself free in the 6 yard box to score with an simple headed goal to make it 3-0 and two minutes later Jake Pollard scored the goal of the game finishing off an excellent move with a 20 yard strike to make it 4-0 and complete the scoring
