Tigers celebrate win with invite to a tea party

HYDE UNITED FC 2 - 0 WARRINGTON TOWN FC

The Tigers took full advantage of their 94th minute equaliser in Saturdays fixture and secured their progression into the 3rd Round with an away tie against Boston Town, and an outstanding performance against a Warrington Town side riding high in the EvoStik Premier League.

The game started with Warrington very firmly in control and looking to make their league seniority show in this FA Cup replay made possible by Saturdays late Karl Jones strike. The Warrington boys were very much on their game, pressing with high intensity, controlling the play and making Hyde uncomfortable in and out of possession. The opening 20 minutes were tough for the Tigers, who were struggling to get on the ball, but this all changed following a break in play for an injury to the outstanding Luke Porritt, who was eventually carried off the field after five minutes, to be replaced by Karl Jones. This break allowed the Tigers to refocus and somehow to wrestle the momentum from Warrington who never really recovered the levels achieved in the opening 20 minutes.

Hyde were now able to get on the ball, and to start to match Warrington on the pitch. The back four have looked impervious this season and they looked in complete control and rarely threatened in this game. Chris Sutherland continued to get on the ball and torment the right side of midfield, with the Hyde midfield working hard to win and retain the ball. This was also a game of high intensity and high workrate from the forwards, with Matty Beadle and the industrious Tom Pratt defending from the front, making sure the Warrington back four were never comfortable.

On 36 minutes Jame Burke picked up the ball just inside the Tigers half, driving forward and playing the ball out to the left hand side where Karl Jones took a touch and returned it to Burke who had continued his run into the Warrington box. The ball was cut out and half cleared to Jones, who picked it up 30 years out, beating two men with his second touch before evading another challenge with his crazy legs style, before calmly looking up and placing the ball right footed into the far corner of the Warrington goal from just inside the left hand edge of the D.

HT 1-0 TIGERS

Hyde came out for the second half, and everyone expected a reaction from Warrington, but it was Hyde who flew out of the blocks scoring in the 48th minute when a driving run from Chris Sutherland, dropping his shoulder and beating his man before cutting the ball back at pace along the 6 yard box where it was turned in to his own net by James McCarten trying to prevent Tom Pratt from prodding it home. This was the start of an outstanding 20 minute spell of football by the Tigers, played at an intensity which Warrington simply could not match and by the time they dropped the level the game was effectively taken away from the Wires.

The final period of play had an increasingly frustrated Warrington side playing forward quickly and trying to play higher up the pitch which suited Hyde who defended resolutely and were then able to hit Warrington on the break, nearly resulting in goals for Chris Sutherland and Big Khamsuk who is probably still wondering how his point blank effort was cleared off the line.

Four minutes of injury time failed to provide any goals for Warrington and Hyde were able to celebrate in front of a bumper crowd of 433.

FT 2-0 HYDE UNITED FC

Darren, his staff and the squad can take a huge amount of pride from this professional performance which kept the unbeaten run going into the 20s, but the next focus will be on training on Thursday night and a return to the league with a home fixture on Saturday against Ossett Town. Hopefully we can celebrate our 21st at 4:45pm
