MOSSLEY A.F.C 1 - 4 HYDE UNTED FC

Derby joy for professional Tigers

MOSSLEY A.F.C 1 - 4 HYDE UNTED FC

Some games are notable because of the flowing football, played with skill and pace. This game was notable because Hyde showed that they could get a result playing ugly football, against one of the leagues more physical sides.

Mossley start games fast, so Darren asked his players to match them and to look to score early. 5 Minutes in and Captain Paddy Miller ran onto a driven free kick delivered by an excellent Lawrence Hunter and powered his header home from 10 yards. 1-0 Tigers. Seven minutes later and Hyde double their lead, with Matt Dempsey curling an exquisite free kick into the bottom left hand corner of the Mossley goal from 22 yards. 2-0 Hyde.

Mossley were shocked into life and responded with a well constructed goal on 28 minutes, and followed this up three minutes later with another well taken goal which was ruled out for a late offside. The Hyde players had a word with each other, regrouped and pushed on to score a fantastic goal of their own, with some sublime footwork from Lawrence Hunter to beat his man and deliver an outstanding finish, putting the game from last week behind him, to restore the two goal cushion for the Tigers at the Break

HT 3-1 Hyde

Darren and his staff stressed the need for the boys to tighten up a bit in the second half and the eleven men on the pitch delivered exactly that.

A very professional 45 minutes, making it 4-1 on 57 minutes with the goal machine Matthew Beadle firing home, and the back four restricting Mossley to shots from distance. Mossley did mange to get the ball in the net again, but the linesman flag was raised early this time.

FT 4-1 Hyde United FC

Hyde are improving in all areas of the pitch and look balanced and solid. Paddy Miller has slotted in well, working along side Kyle Harrison, Matt Dempsey and the consistency excellent James Burke to ensure that we look strong in defence, allowing the midfield and forwards to get the goals. Jamal Branker made his second start for the Tigers, and is starting to show the type of ability which made him a highly thought of scholar at Southampton's respected Academy. Janni Lipka looked good on return from illness, playing along side Laurence Bell, and Beadle looks like a man with a goal in his pocket every time he steps onto the field of play.

Really pleased to see Russ Saunders deliver a very solid 90 minutes in the Hyde goal, and Hunter repaid the gaffers decision to sign him with an excellent display in a forward position. Solid displays from Pete Boyle and Big Khamsuk showing they have learned a lot during the season, and both have much to offer in a team which encourages and supports them with experienced leaders on the field.

The five games in February will test this squad, but with a good return from the four league games, along side a win against Altrincham in the Cheshire Cup and we could be talking optimistically about achieving great things as we enter March.
