Excellent performance delivers disappointing draw

The result is disappointing because Hyde completely controlled the game, and really should have run out clear winners against an Ossett side who came to Ewen Fields on the back of a six goal drubbing last weekend.

Hyde had a number of players unavailable, so it allowed Janni Lipka and Kyle Harrison to make make their full league debut, and young Lewis Haydock to make his first team debut on the bench.

Hyde completely controlled the opening 45 minutes, and should have reached half time with a three goal lead. Andy Bishop was outstanding as the focal point of the Hyde attacks and linked play well, bringing Ayrton Bevins and big Khamsuk into play or spreading the ball wide to Kyle Brownhill & Kyle Harrison so whip balls into the box.

Hyde hit the bar/post three times in the opening 45 through Bishop, Khamsuk and Lipka, and forced an excellent save from the Ossett keeper when Bevins burst through the defensive line and looked to have curled the ball past him, only for an outstretched arm to turn it round the post.

HT 0-0

The second half had Ossett looking more confident, and trying to hit Hyde on the break. The game was still in Hyde's control, and they had the ball in the net through Bevins, after Adam Jones had a header saved, but the referee blew for a push by Jones.

Lots of the ball, and several corners and free kick into the box created no clear cut chances for Hyde and with a minute remaining, Ossett won a dangerous free kick on the edge of the Hyde box giving them the chance of a smash and grab, but the Hyde wall stood strong and this came to nothing.

Four minutes on Injury time and a flash point when the Ossett manager, prowling around outside his technical area, prevented Brownhill from taking a quick throw-in by standing on the ball, and then pushing the Hyde player. Both squads rushed in and after the melee eventually cleared the referee dismissed the Ossett manager and number 5, along with Hyde's Kyle Brownhill.

FT 0-0

MOM for Hyde was Andy Bishop

2 points dropped for Hyde in a game which really was there for the taking. Darren, his management team and players really couldn't hide their disappointment, but they will take some positives from the performance level, which had them in total control of the game, with two players dropping into the side on debut. They have also gone three league games without defeat (1W, 2D) and kept their first clean sheet since Prescott in late September.

Tougher test next weekend away at Lancaster City, but hopefully the return of Burke from suspension and Dempsy & Fitton to full fitness, will give Darren option and competition for places.
