First class display by confident tigers

Its a team game and Hyde look like they have finally found the missing piece to pull this group of players into a squad who can challenge. Andy Bishop put in the best performance by a number 9 since Phil Jevons last pulled on the red shirt 3+ years ago, and his effect on the game and the squad was immediate.

Hyde set up in an attacking 4-2-1-3 and took the game to Prescot. Darren was looking to harness the confidence gained by the players against top of the league on Saturday, and his positive formation and pre game set up clearly fed through to the starting 11.

Hyde were on the front foot from the start, pressing high to regain the ball, supporting Bishop and looking to get behind the opposition fullbacks whenever possible. Adam Thurston has a real pedigree gained during seven years at Manchester United as a youth and Prescott were not able to deal with him leaving him with to much time and space so that he was really able to effect the game. He is only going to get better, following an injury delayed pre season and two back to back games of 70 minutes should set him up nicely for the weekend.

Prescot set up to hit Hyde on the break, and had some success in the early stages forcing the first three corners of the game in the opening 10 minutes as well as creating two chances which should have resulted in shots on target. Hyde managed this early period well and pushed on, with it only being a matter of time before they scored. Good half chances for Dean and a fantastic flowing move set up by Bishop holding up the ball before laying off to Pearson, then Dean and finally a deep run from Thurston who burst into the box, but his dink shot over the outrushing keeper was cleared off the line. 3 minutes later and Thurston again burst into the box and cut back onto his left, but looked to play in Dean when he had a clear site of goal and should have been able to curl it in.

5 Minutes before half time and the Hyde pressure was rewarded following a corner where the tigers used a training ground set piece with the ball headed back across goal by Jones, and finished off by Dave McGurk.

HT 1-0 Hyde

The second half started with Prescot looking to press higher up the pitch, and they again enjoyed a short period of possession, but the tigers were comfortable, and continued to press high looking to force the mistake. This came on 60 minutes when Bishop forced an error with a square pass on the half way line, and Phil Dean pounced onto the ball running clear and calmly slotting the ball under the advancing keeper into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

Prescot rolled the dice with three substitutions and a change in formation to three at the back, with an extra forward pushed into the number 10 roll, behind a forward line of four. Hyde organised and looked solid in a good shape, and 5 minutes later scored their third when a deep corner was met inside the back post by McGurk, netting his second of the match. 3-0 Hyde

The outstanding Adam Thurston and Andy Bishop were replaced by Pete Boyle and Brice Wassi on 80 minutes and Hyde went on to create three or four more good chances before they grabbed their fourth in injury time through substitute Joe Pugh with his first goal for the Tigers.

FT 4-0 WIN for Hyde United and their first away win of the season

Great result for the side, and a massive step forward in terms of their overall play and confidence. Great to see the squad willing to work so hard and to reward the manager for his commitment and belief in them.

MOM Adam Thurston who was class in the number 10 roll
