Hyde avoid Goole scare

Hyde welcomed Goole AFC who find themselves looking up from the bottom of the EvoStik North after the opening three games of the season. Darren had to shuffle the pack with McGurk rested and Dempsey away, but the starting eleven looked more than capable starting in a 5-3-3.

Early play had Hyde seeing a lot of the ball, and creating several chances. The best of these came when Amadi ran onto a through ball from Burke, taking it round the keeper, but choosing to try to lift the ball over the defender rather than squaring for one of the two Hyde players looking to side foot home. 35 minutes in and Cadman picked up the ball in the inside right channel and driving forward looked to as if he was tripped on the edge of the box, but the referee waved play on and the ball was played forward to the Goole 11 who was cleaned out by Burke which earned him a straight red from the Referee.

Goole had the extra man, but it was Hyde who upped the tempo, driven on by the excellent Adam Jones who demanded more from the boys on the field, and they managed to see out the half with the majority of the ball and a couple of half chances.

HT 0-0

Hyde were out for the second half 5 minutes early, so it is fair to assume that Darren was less than impressed with the tempo and general quality of the first half play.

It was immediately clear that Hyde intended to play more quickly and to take the game to Goole, and they created three or four good early chances.

53 minutes in and a Hyde corner had a couple of Goole players on the floor holding their heads and the referee stopped play to allow treatment. The Referee looked to restart on the edge of the box with a dropped ball, but the Goole keeper clearly indicated that he would return the ball to Hyde, He was given the ball which he put down, and rolled out of his feet, before calling his players together, the referee signalled that the ball was in play, and Bevins ran onto it and knocked it past the keeper who hauled him to the floor. Penalty and a straight red to the Goole keeper..

Amadi stepped up and calm dispatched the kick to the stand in keepers right. 1-0 Hyde. 5 minutes later and Hyde doubled their lead. A free kick taken from the right was overhit, but picked up on the edge of the box by Pearson who Cruyff turned the fullback, drove into the box and cut the ball back for Bevins to fire home from 5 yards. 2-0 Hyde.

Goole were now struggling and conceded again following a driving run from Brice Wassi who was fouled on the edge of the D allowing Phil Dean to place the ball and fire home with the help of a slight deflection. 3-0. Hyde soon added their fourth and Bevins his second when a neat move which included a lovely back heal assist for Cadman had Bevins clean through and he calmly slotted home. Pete Boyle and Big Khamsuk replaced Cadman and Dean respectively and Curtley-Wyatt, returning after a few weeks out with shin splints replaced the excellent Bevins.

Hyde controlled the remaining 12 minutes with good possession and a number of decent half chances.

FT 4-0 Hyde United FC

A clean sheet and another decent performance which Hyde grew in to as the game went on. The final 20 minutes had them playing the kind of football the fans and the Manager like to see

Glossop away on Monday 29th, which will be a tougher test for the squad, but they should go into it feeling confident and ready.
