29-03-08  FARSLEY REPORT Hyde United v Farsley Celtic       Wednesday 26th March     KO 7.45

The young tigers final game of the season, just happened to be at home, just happened to be against champions elect Farsley, just happened to be a win and go to the top of the table game. This was a grudge match of mega proportions as Farsley had beaten a Hyde team with Colgan just beginning management with this bunch of players and the opponents using numerous players from the 1st team. The young tigers lost 7 – 0, the opponents management team rubbed our noses in it and the fall out from that game meant a new team for Hyde United Reserves.

That team started fantastically well, and Gee buoyed by his screamer from last week let fly again in the 3rd min, but a brilliant save from the Farsley keeper kept it out. From the corner Crank had a clear header but put it over the bar. Farsley were determined that the young tigers didn’t have things their own way and had a shot cleared off the line in the 5th min and a couple of mins later a good save by Holland almost crept into the net, Holland diving on the ball before it crossed the line.
Only 10 mins gone and the football both teams were playing was scintillating, another 25 yard shot from Dempsey bought a good save from the Farsley keeper, and from the corner Crank had another free header but put the ball wide. With both goalkeepers in fine form, surely it was only a matter of time before we had the first goal and it arrived in the 18th min. A great pass from Rick put Igenoza through on goal, as the goal keeper came out he delicately lobbed the ball over him and into the net. 1 – 0
Hyde had the bit between their teeth and Shevlin had a shot which was saved by the goalkeeper and another over the bar. Shevlin’s and Igenoza’s pace had Farsley worried and they didn’t know whether to stick or twist!! They also had to watch the young tigers midfield run the game. In the 35th min Williams went on a mazy dribble past 3 men but was chopped down on the edge of the area by a crude tackle. Hyde finally made their pressure pay when a shot from the angle was drilled into the net by Dempsey. 2 – 0
A breathless first half came to an end.

Half time Hyde 2 – 0 Farsley

The managements team talk focused on discipline and keeping the ball. They knew that Farsley were getting a roasting off their manager and would come out fired up, but the young tigers carried on as they left. Williams went on another run down the left and put a fantastic cross into the box, but nobody could get on the end of it. In the 47th min a clearance from Crank brought a late tackle from a Farsley player, and as he retaliated they both ended up with a yellow card. In the 50th min another bad tackle meant Dempsey going head to head with his opponent and again both players were booked. Farsley were becoming frustrated because they were being totally dominated, and Shevlin had another good shot that was saved. Farsleys attacks were becoming sporadic but they managed to hit the post and pick up another 2 bookings for crude tackles. Hyde finally put the game to bed in the 85th min when a short backpass was taken round the goalkeeper by Igenoza and put into the empty net. 3 – 0
There was still time for Farsley to pick up another booking for a disgraceful tackle on Cooke that left him with a dislocated shoulder.
It seems the Farsley team need to learn to win and lose with dignity.

Full Time Hyde United 3 – 0 Farsley

This win put the young tigers top of the league for the 1st time this season, unfortunately it may have come too late as Farsley still have a few games in hand……surely they cant blow it now…..can they!!

The starting 11 deserves to be read out loud because if they perform like this next season, silverware will definitely be on the agenda!!

  1. Danny Holland
  2. Chris Cooke
  3. Matty Bunting
  4. Ashley Crank
  5. Gavin Atherton
  6. Lee Rick
  7. Brad Dempsey
  8. Bobby Gee
  9. Joel Igenoza
  10. Andrew Shevlin
  11. Adam Williams
So another season over and since the change of management the players have shown a spirit and togetherness, players have come and players have gone but the quality remains.
Top of the league - aided by 4 wins in  Yorkshire  and all by playing fantastic, attacking football.
The management team of Colgan, McMahon and Pemberton can take a lot of credit for that, but the majority of the credit should go to the players who did the business on the pitch.

See you all on the 11th April at Ewen Fields for the presentations.

22-03-08  WAKEFIELD REPORT  Hyde United v  Harrogate     Wednesday 20th March       KO 8pm

The young tigers penultimate game of the season was scheduled for 8pm kick off, however with heavy traffic on the M62 Harrogate arrived late, didn’t have time for the warm up and only had 10 men!!

You had to feel sorry for  Harrogate , the referee only gave them a 10 minute window and at 8.10 the game finally kicked off. With only 10 men, they played with 1 upfront whilst Hyde had a full strength reserve team.  Harrogate  hardly got out of their half, and when they did, couldn’t get the support to the lone forward……so its easier to report on Hydes goals and chances…….

10 mins Gee had a chance which flew over the bar
17 mins Dempsey was through but was flagged offside
18 mins Shevlin clean through but put the ball past the post
20 mins handbags between Dempsey and a  Harrogate  player resulted in yellow cards for both.
27 mins Dempsey had a clear header – over the bar
37 mins Igenoza had a header, good save from the goalkeeper and Shevlin hit the post
39 mins Dempsey had a good shot, good save from the keeper – the follow up was headed past the post by Shevlin.
40 mins a cross by Cooke hit the crossbar
44 min Finally Igenoza outpaced the defence and slotted past the keeper.
1 – 0

Half time Hyde 1 – 0  Harrogate

Harrogates missing players still hadn’t turned up, but Colgan’s half time team talk focused on remaining disciplined and taking chances!!
50 mins Crank through on goal but shot across the goal with nobody following in.
52 mins Dempsey had a shot that hit the post.
53 mins substitution Hampson for Igenoza
54 mins 30 yard strike from Hampson hit the crossbar.
60 min Shevlin finally takes his chance and scores
2 – 0
64 min Crank clean through on goal but shanked his shot.
80 min another chance for Crank but blazed over
82 min substitution Fullalove for Dempsey
87 mins a fantastic 30 yard shot from Gee flew into the top corner.
88 min Cooke clean through but put his shot wide.

Mercifully for  Harrogate  the referee blew early, to put them out of their misery.

Full time Hyde 3 – 0  Harrogate

Onto the final game against last years champions Farsley, and im sure the players will remember the scoreline from the away game………….7 – 0………….. I certainly do!!

16-03-08 PRESENTATION  The Reserves' end of season Presentation evening will be in the Sponsor's Lounge on Friday 11th April @ 7.30pm. Everybody is invited.

16-03-08  Wakefield  v Hyde United          Friday 14th March   7.45 KO

After poor results in the 1st team, Steve Waywell had asked a number of 1st team players to turn out in this reserve game, mostly to regain confidence - and to regain their mojo!! Names such as Band and Brass in defence, Innes and Morris in midfield and a forward line of Tipton, Simms and Clee, only 2 reserve players made the starting line-up, they were  Holland  in goal and Shevlin at left back.

Surely with all that talent,  Wakefield  would be blown away, but with less experienced players they took an early lead. A free kick on the edge of the box was curled around the wall, a good save from  Holland  only pushed out to another  Wakefield  player running in, who slotted it home. 1 – 0
Hyde realised that  Wakefield  weren’t going to roll over, but they still took control of the game. Simms was causing havoc down the right and in the 12th and 17th min tested Wakefields goalkeeper after blistering runs. Soon after Clee had a chance but blazed over and on 25 mins Simms passed to Tipton who scuffed his shot. Hyde were in total control but couldn’t find the equaliser as  Wakefield  defended manfully. A free kick in the 40th min from Tipton bought another fantastic save from the Wakefield  goalkeeper and they would have been glad to have got in at half time without conceding.

Half Time  Wakefield  1 – 0 Hyde Utd

The second half continued in the same vein, Hyde squandering chances. Innes was through on goal, but hit the post, Simms shot from a tight angle but nobody was following in, substitutions were made to try and inject something different. Igenoza replaced Tipton and Gee replaced Morris.  Wakefield  were defending for their lives and Hyde again hit the woodwork. It seemed it wasn’t going to be Hydes day, a Clee shot was saved brilliantly by the goalkeeper, Rick was clean through but chose to shoot with his right foot when it was better to hit with the left and Innes had a close range shot which again was blazed over.
The 80th min and the final change was Williams for Shevlin, but Hyde still couldn’t score, Simms was clean through again but put his shot straight at the goalkeeper and Gee had a shot that was just too high. Then into injury time, a silly foul on Rick by the defender gave Hyde a chance from the penalty spot. Simm stepped up to take it, but another brilliant save from the goalkeeper seemed to have secured the points for Wakefield, but 4 mins into injury time Simms had one more chance which he finally took. 1 – 1
There wasn’t time to kick off as the referee blew his whistle for full time.

Full Time  Wakefield  1 – 1 Hyde Utd

This was a game that Hyde should have won, but missed chances means the slim hope of winning the title has now gone.

02-03-08 OSSETT TOWN REPORT  Hyde Utd v  Ossett   Town    Wednesday 27th Feb

The young tigers were looking to build on their great victory in  Yorkshire  on Saturday and increase the confidence within the team.

Hyde started like a house on fire and a superb pass from  Harrison  in the first 5 mins put Shevlin through on goal but he fluffed the chance.  Harrison  had decided on a run out with the reserves and helped the midfield take control of the game. Ossett were finally roused and had a curling shot over the bar. In the 25th min a cross from the left found its way through to Demspey and he dispatched the ball beyond the goalkeeper. 1 – 0
It was his 2nd goal in 3 games…not to mention the 2 he had got in a friendly game.
The young tigers took complete control of the game, Shevlin had a chance but shot well over and Crank was clean through but in trying to lob the goalkeeper only put the ball into the goalies hands.  Holland  was having an easy game in goal for Hyde and was mostly redundant, then in the 30th min a harmless through ball from Ossett was headed back to  Holland  by Glennon. The header was slightly misjudged and ended in the back of the net. 1 – 1
The goal was hardly deserved but seemed to perk up Ossett slightly and they managed to hang on till half time level.

Half Time Hyde 1 – 1 Ossett Town

Colgans half time team talk focused on playing exactly the same way, but be wary of an early Ossett onslaught, because they really hadn’t played in the first half. True to form Ossett came out with a flea in their ear from their manager and tried to take control of the game. However a break from Williams, using good pace bought a fantastic save from the Ossett keeper. For the next 10 mins Ossett were in control, but the young tigers defended brilliantly and slowly worked their way back into the half. In the 60th min Hyde had a corner, and the well worked corner routine from the training ground paid dividends as Crank headed home. 2 – 1
In the 65th min Gee came on for Harrison who had played a blinder and Hyde continued to control the game. Igenoza came on for Shevlin, who had picked up his 2nd booking in 2 games and for the final couple of mins Rowbotham came on for Russo. There was still time for a magnificent save from  Holland  as Ossett pushed everything forward for an equalizer.

Full Time Hyde Utd 2 – 1 Ossett Town

Fantastic win for the young tigers, their 2nd in 4 days shows they have learnt from past mistakes. The spirit and attitude is really good and hopefully this will continue until the end of the season.

24-02-08 WOODLEY & OSSETT REPORTS
Woodley v Hyde Utd      Tues 19th Feb

This was a cup match against local rivals which the young tigers just couldn’t afford to lose.

Andrew Shevlin was back in the team after a spell out with injury. The game started slow with neither team making any chances until the 25th min when Shevlin broke through the defence but rushed his shot and fired past the post. Straight after the Woodley forward had a chance but was off target. The game was starting to warm up and Hyde were taking control with their slick passing, a cross by Williams flashed across the goal and in the 32nd min Rick was booked for dissent.

Then in the 35th min Hyde made the breakthrough when a volley inside the box from Dempsey flew into the top corner. 0 – 1

The young tigers were in full control and just before half time Shevlin had a free header which he should have buried.

Half Time  Woodley 0 - 1 Hyde Utd

The message from Colgan at half time was to keep control of the game with passing and most important to stay disciplined.

The second half started in the same vein with Hyde in control and in the 56th min Gee had a shot from the edge of the box that flew wide, and Bunting also went close. Igenoza came on for Bunting in the 65th min and he was into the action straight away with a run down the left that was deflected for a corner. The young tigers have a well worked routine from corners and it worked like a dream on the 76th min when Crank rose and headed home. 0 – 2

Shevlin was beginning to tire after his spell out with injury, also the young tigers instead of holding what they had, wanted more goals. Colgan bought on Pemberton for Shevlin to try and get the message across to the players to keep their discipline. However with 4 mins to go Woodley got a lifeline when a mix up in defence allowed them to score. 1 – 2

Then in the 90th min Woodley got a free kick, there was good quality on the ball into the box and a header made it 2 – 2.

Woodley celebrated like it was a win, and who could blame them they certainly got out of jail.

Full Time Woodley 2 - 2 Hyde Utd

A lesson learned for the young tigers, the goalkeeper Holland didn’t have a save to make but sometimes you need to be disciplined enough to close out a game.

Ossett Albion  v  Hyde Utd     Saturday 23rd Feb

Back to league matters for the young tigers who had games in hand on all their opponents but still had hard tests like this difficult away day in Yorkshire .

The Hyde team was hit by withdrawals, Bunting was playing central defence with Atherton and was also made captain.

The young tigers started well and on 6 mins Gee had a great shot that flew over the bar. Again the Hyde well worked corner routine almost worked, but Dempseys header went over. Hyde were playing well and dominating possession, but couldn’t turn that possession into goals as a Gee shot, a Shevlin header and a Williams shot went wide. In the 39th min a brilliant run from Cook, as he went past at least 5 players bought a good save from the  Ossett keeper. Then in the 41st min a brilliant 25 yard shot from Shevlin flew into the top corner. 0 – 1

Hyde then started to turn the screw and just before half time a left foot volley from Gee rattled the bar.

Ossett Albion 0 – 1 Hyde Utd

Colgans half time team talk focused on the previous game and staying disciplined, also Ossett had been totally out played in the first half and they may have to weather a 10 min spell of pressure.

True to form Ossett must have had a blast from their manager and came out all guns blazing for the second half. In the 55th min a shot from Ossett went close and they were closer still in the 58th min when another shot came back off the bar as Hyde struggled to clear. The young tigers defended valiantly as Ossett piled the pressure on but the defence stood firm with Bunting brilliantly marshalling his troops. After the initial 15 mins pressure the young tigers gained control again, and a header from Bunting went just past the post and Igenoza spurned a good chance. Shevlin and a Ossett player were booked after they went head to head. In the 82nd min Galpin came on for Dempsey and was involved in the move which saw Rick drill a shot past the keeper. 0 – 2

Sparks and Charnley came on for their Hyde debut for Shevlin and Igenoza respectively and in the last couple of minutes an Ossett player got a second yellow card and was sent off.

Final Score Ossett 0 – 2 Hyde Utd

Full marks to the young tigers for a brilliant away performance, after learning the lessons from the last game. Even with the withdrawals, these young tigers are learning fast.

11-02-08 SALFORD REPORT
Hyde Utd   v   Salford City         Wednesday 6th Feb

A cup match between a very strong Salford team including several first team players was a good test for the young tigers.

Hyde had one of their strongest line ups since the season started, no injuries, no suspensions and all players available for the game, also Wharton getting a much needed game with the reserves.

However the strength of the team didn’t prepare them for a slow start and Salford shocked the young tigers with a goal after just 6 mins. 0 – 1

Salford were a decent team and had bags of experience in their team but the young tigers soon came up to the challenge and Bunting had a chance on 15 mins well saved by the Salford keeper. A couple of mins later a dangerous cross by Cook was missed by everyone. Glennon, who again started up front was played in by Wharton on the 20th min and was clean through but curled his shot round the goalkeeper and onto the bar. Salford were starting to come under pressure but had a couple of dangerous counter attacks and rattled the bar in the 36th min. Just before half time Glennon was one on one with the goalkeeper again but hit the ball straight at him.

Half time Hyde 0 – 1 Salford

The second half started the same as the first with the young tigers starting sloppily and conceding a goal within the first 5 mins of the second half. 0 – 2

Again, just like the first half Hyde made plenty of decent chances, Glennon shot just past the post, Wharton failed to control in the box, Glennon again bought a good save from the keeper. The substitutions made no difference as Igenoza came on for Bunting and missed two good chances, and the Hyde management team were furious with the referee for blowing the whistle as Williams was clean through on goal. His excuse was Henry, who had challenged for a header had a head injury. However whilst being treated by the physio he needed treatment for his hip!?

Full Time Hyde 0 – 2 Salford

Luckily for the young tigers these cup matches are on a round robin basis, but if we want to progress, we need someone who is going to put the ball in the onion bag!!

01-02-08 BRIDGE REPORT   Hyde Utd   v Stalybridge        Monday 28th Jan

Again left chomping at the bit with postponements the young tigers had a local derby to shake off the cobwebs.

This game started off at a frightening pace and didn’t let up! The tackles were flying in from Stalybridge as Hyde tried to pass the ball round them and on 15 mins they had a chance with Glennon but he put his chance straight at the keeper.

The football being played by both teams was scintillating and on 20 mins Stalybridge scored with a fine goal. 0 – 1

Bobby Gee coming back from injury was playing a fine game and started a move by nutmegging a player, as the cross came in Monaghan was off target with the header.

Another chance fell to Glennon who again was off target and tempers became frayed between the benches in the 40th min as a Stalybridge player came in late on a tackle, the referee quite rightly giving the player a yellow card.

Half time Hyde 0 – 1 Stalybridge

Stalybridges formation was causing problems for the Hyde midfield so Colgan made changes at half time, bringing on Ingham for Gee and making tactical changes to counter the Stalybridge formation. The changes meant Williams playing more central rather than on the left and immediately payed dividends as a through ball from Williams set Glennon free. As he rounded the keeper, he was brought down and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. As it was a goal scoring chance he should have been sent off but the decision to keep him on was one of many mistakes from the referee and his assistants.

Rick stepped up to take the penalty and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. 1 – 1

The second half was pulsating with Holland making 2 fine saves from a shot and a penalty from Stalybridge and Hyde going down the other end and forcing Bridges goalkeeper into some fine saves too.

Then in the 71st min the referee penalised Henry for a perfectly timed tackle outside the box, as Bridge took the free kick Hyde failed to clear and the bridge player took advantage and scored. 1 – 2

Hyde piled on the pressure and Glennon, Monaghan and Hampson had chances before the end but just couldn’t find the finish.

Full Time Hyde 1 – 2 Stalybridge

A fantastic game with the wrong scoreline spoiled by some dodgy decisions by the officials! Typical young tigers game!!!

15-01-08 FIXTURE CHANGE Farsley (23rd January) at home is postponed due to the Thailand Friendly next week. Next home game for theReserves is Monday 28th January - STALYBRIDGE CELTIC - ko 7.45pm
09-01-08 BRIDGE
This match will now take place on Monday Jan 29th kick off 7:45pm.
23-12-07 WOODLEY
Hyde Utd   v  Woodley Sports      Wednesday 19th Dec 7.45pm KO

On a bitterly cold night at Ewen Fields the young tigers finally had a game after a number of postponements with Woodley being the main culprits after cancelling 2 games.

The young tigers had been itching to have a game and all that built up frustration came to the boil in this game.  Hyde with a sprinkling of 1st team players started like a house on fire and Danny Glennon starting in an unaccustomed position of forward scored after only 4 mins. 1 – 0

However Woodley went straight down the other end and spurned a chance from a couple of yards out – the ball coming back off the post.

Hyde were playing good football and a crude tackle from former player Tom Bane on Lee Cartwright bought a lecture from the referee. From the free kick, Woodley were unable to clear and Bunting struck a daisy cutter through the crowd and into the bottom corner. 2 – 0

For the rest of the half it was the Glennon show versus the Woodley keeper. He hit the post after rounding the keeper, and the keeper made 3 good saves from Glennon before half time.

 Half Time Hyde 2 – 0 Woodley

At half time Igenoza replaced Bunting who had stomach pains and he was into the game straight away, screwing a shot wide after being put through.

In the 52nd min Glennon had the chance to double his tally with a clear header but put it wide. In the 60th min Glennon took the opportunity to score his second after being put through by Wharton. 3 – 0

A minute later Glennon had his hat trick but tweaked a hamstring in taking the shot. 4 – 0

Galpin replaced Glennon but this change did nothing to diminish Hydes dominance with Igenoza and Williams spurning numerous chances to score a bagful. In the 80th min Rowbotham replaced Hampson and there was another chance for Igenoza to score but the young tigers couldn’t add to their score.

 Final score Hyde 4 – 0 Woodley

So then 6 wins 2 draws and 4 losses since the new management team took over and real spirit and togetherness from this young squad. Thanks to all the 1st team players who have played with the team, bringing experience and stability.

And that leaves me to say Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all the staff, grounds staff, supporters club members, chairman and not forgetting the fans who come to our games, for your continued support in 2007. We hope this continues in 2008 when we hope to win some silverware.

From Paul Colgan, Lol McMahon, Dave Pemby and all the Young Tigers

24-11-07 OSSETT REPORT
Hyde v Ossett Albion  Thursday 22nd November

Injuries and illness again hampered the young tigers in their 1st game at Ewen fields in 5 weeks but after recent performances, spirits were high against Ossett Albion.

Second leading goalscorer Joel Igenoza was back as was club captain Danny Glennon who had to be content with a place on the bench after coming back from injury. Ben Rowbotham was also back at left back with Adam Williams on the left wing after his stint with the 1st team. The rest of the team kept their place from last weeks win in Yorkshire including the centre back pairing of Matty Bunting and Will Faulks.

And they were required straight away as Ossett made the better start with Hyde slow out of the blocks and goalkeeper Danny Holland being forced into 2 good saves in the first 16 mins.

Finally Hyde got their game together and a good shot in the 25th min by Gee warmed the hands of the Ossett goalkeeper. The game was flowing from end to end with good football from both sides although the opponents had the upper hand, then against the run of play a great through ball from Gee found Igenoza who slotted the ball home off the post. 1 – 0

Ossett were stunned but continued to play their football and found an equaliser in the 44th min. 1-1

Half time Hyde 1 – 1 Ossett Albion

The manager blasted the team for conceding just before half time and stressed the need to up the tempo bringing on Danny Glennon for Martin Ingham in central midfield.

Straight away the change made a difference with Hyde getting hold of midfield and pressuring Ossett. On 49 mins a shot from Rowbotham just flew over, but Ossett were dangerous on the break and hit the post in the 51st min

Again Hyde made a substitution on 56th min bringing on Khader Ali for Lee Galpin going all out for the win.  In the 64th min a volley from Gee hit the post and a minute later a great move left Bryan with a chance but he blazed it wide.

Hyde made their final change  in the 70th min bringing on Andrew Shevlin for Mario Bryan, but Ossett were still dangerous and again hit the post in the 79th min. The final chance fell to Hyde in injury time but Gee hit it over the bar.

Final score Hyde 1 – 1 Ossett Albion

A great game played in great spirit by 2 very good teams who were playing football the right way. The young tigers seem to be growing up fast!!

20-11-07 FIXTURE CHANGE We now play at Leigh this Saturday, the scheduled match at Ossett Albion is T.B.A.
18-11-07 OSSETT REPORT
Saturday 17th Nov 2pm ko

Another difficult away day for the young tigers wasn’t made any easier by a swirling wind and numerous withdrawals through injury and work commitments.

Making their debut for Hyde were 3 players, Danny Holland in goal, Jamie Breton in central midfield and Osebi Abadaki upfront. Also with Matty Bunting who was captain for the day playing in central defence, this would be an uphill struggle.

However the young tigers made a solid start in the first half and were the better team with Abadaki having 2 glorious chances to score but blazed them both wide.

In the 30th min Bobby Gee struck a tremendous shot but the Ossett goalkeeper made a fine save.

Half Time Ossett Town 0 – 0 Hyde

The half time team talk was about missed chances and Paul Colgan decided to make a change for the second half bringing on Martin Ingham who was also making his debut for the tiring Jamie Brerton.

With the wind at their backs, Ossett decided to push for a goal but the defence held firm with Bunting and Faulks excellent in central defence.

The defence was under pressure with the ball being returned with regularity and the forwards unable to hold the ball up. In the 60th min Paul Colgan decided to replace Abadaki with Dave Pemberton and in the 72nd min the change paid dividends. Tom Macartney with a great show of pace down the left put in a brilliant cross and there was Pemberton to score with a bullet header. 0 – 1

Again Ossett put the pressure on this makeshift defence but they stood firm with Bunting earning a man of the match performance.

In the 85th min, to kill time Paul Colgan bought on Orson Cummings for Mario Bryan and played out time to the annoyance of the Ossett management.

Final Score Ossett Town 0 – 1 Hyde Utd

So the young tigers are starting to show their teeth and all the boys who came in did well – the management will be asking for a similar performance in their next game.

09-10-07 BRIDGE REPORT Stalybridge v Hyde 7th nov 7.45 KO

On a cold evening night a local derby was just what the doctor ordered for the young tigers to get the defeat of the last game out of their system.

With ex tigers player Steve Cooney playing for Stalybridge, this was always going to be a red hot game. However Hyde made the better start and in the 7th min Dave Morley scored with a towering header. 0-1
Chances came and went with Adam Williams, Andrew Shevlin and Ben Rowbotham missing good chances to double the score.

Half time Stalybridge 0-1 Hyde

The second half started sluggishly for Hyde and Stalybridge were biting into tackles in midfield and starting to get the upper hand and in the 60th min, their pressure paid off and the opponents scored a scrappy goal. 1-1

The goal seemed to galvanise Stalybridge who played their best football of the game and Hydes goalkeeper Phil Leaff made a couple of outstanding saves. Totally against the run of play Hyde scored a second goal in the 60th min when a cross from the right was turned into his own goal by a Stalybridge defender. 1-2
Straight away the opponents went down the other end and scored in the 61st min. 2-2

Hyde were struggling and again were missing chances and in the 70th min Stalybridge took the lead. 3-2
Chances came and went for Hyde again and in the 75th min Paul Colgan made a double substitution. Joel Igenoza came on for Andrew Shevlin and Tom Macartney on for Bobby Gee who had an admiral debut.
Hyde took control of the game as the new players breathed life into game and in the 85th min the manager made his final substitution bringing on Lee Galpin for Matty Bunting. The substitutions worked and a flick on from Galpin found Igenoza who cooly rounded the keeper and slotted home. 3-3
