HYDE UNITED FC 2 - 1 PRESCOT CABLES

3 points and a bit of swagger

HYDE UNITED FC 2 - 1 PRESCOT CABLES

Hyde were decent in this game. Very decent. 80% of the play in both periods and a goal in each half. The only pity was to concede when the defence deserved the clean sheet.

Hyde started at a brisk tempo, and looked to play quickly into the channels and to press high forcing Prescot to play forward and ultimately to give the ball back to Hyde. In the opening 30 minutes The tigers could have scored three or four, but they went in at half time with one, following some outstanding wing play from the extremely talented Luke Porritt who picked up the ball midway through the Prescott half, knocked it past his man and then delivered a fantastic cross on his second touch which was expertly volleyed home by Tom Pratt.

Prescot enjoyed a period of 5 minutes where they looked a threat, but Hyde were organised and comfortable at the back and managed to see out the first period.

HT 1-0 HYDE UNITED FC

The second half started as the first had finished with Hyde on the ball. Prescot are a decent side in possession, and they possess some good players and some real positive intent going forward. Their number 11 and 10 were both good on the night, and certainly Hyde had to stay switched on at the back, and needed to work very hard in the centre of the park.

The middle of the second half was all Hyde. For a period of around 15 minutes, Hyde could and should have added two or three goals, with Tom pratt, and Pete Boyle both forcing excellent saves when through on goal, and Kyle Harrison rattling the crossbar with a fantastic effort, but they only managed one through Tom Pratt, reading the play well and latching onto a nice through ball to finish past the Prescot keeper. 2-0 Tigers.

With the clock running down, Prescott got a reward for their attacking football scoring with 5 minutes of normal time remaining and the game got a bit scrappy in the final few minutes with Hyde trying to slow down play, and Prescot looking to keep up their momentum. A brief moment of handbags and a couple of 'calm downs' and the referee brought an end to this entertaining game in front of a very good Tuesday evening crowd of 308.

FT 2-1 HYDE UNITED FC

A good start. The players look very professional and all of the summer signings have slotted into the team and look like quality additions. Pete Boyle has been excellent leading the line tirelessly, with Tom Pratt a fantastic addition who will score 20+ goals for this season if he stays fit. Luke Porritt is a great player and a top lad who lights up the club, with Tyrone Gay amongst the others who stand out.

Darren is hoping that the squad appreciate the season is long and they will all have the opportunity to play and to stake a claim for a starting place. Budgets do have an effect on the weeks squad when we play Saturday & Tuesday, but hopefully this weekends FA Cup game allows some of the other players to get a run out and we can continue to progress in both the league and the cups.

Professional start, professional squad, and a professional management team have Hyde United in a good place.
