HYDE UNITED FC 1-1 CHESTER FC
The first home pre season game of the season provided the watching fans with a glimpse of an exciting season ahead.
Chester arrived with a strong squad, and their starting 11 contained 9 players who you would expect to play in the opening game of the season, so this was a tough test.
Chester scored in the opening 2 minutes with a goal which benefited from the linesman not being up with play, and they bossed the opening 15 minutes with good possession and attacking intent.
Hyde weathered the opening 15 minutes well and managed to get hold of the ball in midfield with Janni Lipka and Chris Churchman working well together, supported by excellent attacking play and a strong performance from a much stronger and more confident Pete Boyle at number 9.
30 minutes in and Hyde drew level when Pete Boyle fired home from the spot following a penalty awarded for a foul by the Chester Keeper. Hyde looked confident and finished the half the stronger of the two teams, with a couple of half chances with Pete Boyle forcing an outstanding one handed save by the keeper, and also firing just over with a curling effort from the right hand edge of the box.
HALF TIME 1-1
The second half had both side making changes to give players a run out, and the game suffered a little because of this, but remained competitive with both teams carving out chances.
FULL TIME 1-1
Hyde looked strong across the 20 players used, and we can take a huge amount of positives from the game. With Chris Sutherland & Matthew Beadle both injured, we have some real strength in depth to come back to the squad. Janni Lipka continues to impress, and a number of players staked their claim for the coming season with excellent home debuts. Good to see the confidence in the squad, and the positive development of Academy players supported by our outstanding management and team captain.
