Lots of positives to take from this competitive fixture

FRICKLEY ATHETIC FC 1-0 HYDE UNITED FC

Hyde travelled to Frickley as a replacement for the home fixture against stocksbrige park steels when they pulled out due to injurys.

The game started with both teams working hard to close the other down and to stifle play. Hyde were the first team to start to gain some control and created several chances with the best of these falling to in form striker Pete Boyle who would normally have expected to put at least one of them away.

HT 0-0

The second half started at a frantic pace, with Hyde again looking the stronger side, but it was Frickley who broke the deadlock with a terrific strike which took a slight deflection before hitting the back of the tigers net past the outstretched arm of the debutant Hyde keeper.

Hyde created a few more half chances which they were unable to convert, but all the management and staff were pleased when Goal machine Matthew Beadle was able to run out for the remaining 15 minutes for his first pre season game of the season as he works his way back to fitness following an early training injury.

FT 1-0 Frickley.

Darren Kelly was pleased with the effort and commented "I though the squad looked slightly off the pace in the opening 15 minutes following the effort in the very competitive fixture against Connahs Que on Saturday, but I am really pleased with how we overcame this and the effort we put into the game was excellent. With 10 days until the season kicks off we are in a really good position with a fantastic squad and an excellent team spirit."
