We had him first at Hyde United August 2 years ago and said we would get him back.
Little did we know when we were arranging for him to come and play at our second year anniversary of comedy nights at Hyde United that he would have become a top 3 finalist on Britians Got Talent.
I have to admit there were some worries that after having finished in the top 3 that he may not have been able to keep all his bookings prior to appearing on the show. All the way leading up to last night we were waiting for the call to say, sorry but Daliso isn't going to be able to appear now. But even after flying in from Canada the morning of the gig, he did make his way to Hyde United. However it didn't exactly go to plan, little did we know that it wasn't Daliso not being able to appear that we should have been worrying about.
It was the closure of the M56 on the evening of the gig which caused a major traffic hold up at 7:30pm. Our opening act was stuck in the traffic as was Daliso making his way from Liverpool after opening a gig there. Our second act, Andy Watson, had managed to get to Hyde so we put him on first, hoping that either Steve Harris, who was supposed to be on first, or Daliso would be able to arrive in time to go on next.
Andy did his act and by 9pm still neither Steve or Daliso had arrived. The audience were informed and food was served early to buy a bit more time. At 10pm a call from Daliso informed us traffic was moving again and that he was 25 minutes away. Even with the long delay the audience was very understanding and we would like to thank them for that. And at 10:30pm like the star is has become, in walked Daliso to a huge round of applause, and he was on doing his act within 5 minutes of arriving.
But it was well worth the wait, one of the funniest acts we have ever had at Hyde United and a true professional. He stayed on stage 20 minutes longer than he was booked for and I have never heard as much cheering, laughter and applause for one of our comedy acts.
We would like to thank Daliso for last night and wish him well for his future and look forward to seeing him on our TV screens. I know a few of the people who were there last night will be going to see him in March at the Lowry.
A big thanks also to Ste Porter from Hit and Run Comedy who have been putting on our Comedy Nights for 2 years now, for getting us through the night, he personally went round and explained the delay to almost everyone last night, and thanks also for finding us Daliso 2 years ago and bringing him back as such a huge star.
Oh and Steve Harris who was also stuck on the M56, as far as we know he is still there somewhere
When we find him we will be sure to get him booked in for one of our other comedy nights.
Our next comedy night at Hyde United will be on Friday 8th December, where our headliner will be an act who appeared on the same night as Daliso 2 years ago, Dave Twentyman. Another future star..... Who knows.
Look out for tickets in the coming weeks.
