The best way to keep up to date with Hyde United Football Club

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

Hyde make it 18 games without defeat as they saw off a Colwny Bay side who were, like the tigers, undefeated so far this season, coming into the game after they dispatched league leaders South Shields on Saturday.

Conditions were not great and Colwyn had the better of the opening 45 minutes playing into the wind, causing problems for Hyde, winning five corners and forcing a goal line clearance on 32 minutes from Captain Paddy Miller who won everything throughout the 95 minutes of the game

HT 0-0

Hyde are strong and organised, with the managers & staff using the 15 minutes over half time to focus the side, and to make slight changes which they have identified during the opening 45 to give the boys the edge.

Within a minute of the restart, Hyde were in the lead. A ball played forward by Hyde was spilled by the Bay keeper falling at the feet of Luke Porritt who calmly made it 1-0 to the Tigers with his 3rd goal in as many games.

The Tigers were playing into the wind and this helped as the ball held up allowing their hard working and very pacey forward four to get on the ball and run at the Colwny back line. Chris Sutherland was outstanding in the opening 45, beating his man and creating several excellent chances. He carried this on in the second half, and following another driving run he fed the ball to Luke Porritt who got a shove from behind which had the referee pointing to the spot and reaching for a red card as Kyle Jacobs received a second yellow for the push. Matthew Beadle placed the ball and rifled it into the inside right of the Bay goal to make it 2-0 to the Tigers with 10 to play.

Hyde are a different outfit this year and only need a slight whiff of blood to go for the jugular. Built on defensive foundations which give the whole team confidence, Hyde continued to play forward and Chris Sutherland was rewarded for his best performance of the season so far with the goal of the game, receiving the ball 18 yards out before smartly turning his marker to fire home. 3-0 Tigers.

Tyrone Gay, Pete Boyle and Karl Jones replaced, Beadle, Porritt and Pratt and the breathless Tigers saw out the 5 minutes of injury time to record a fantastic 3 points on the road against a strong and organised Colwny Bay Side.

Hyde are looking strong and can approach this weekends FA Cup fixture away at Warrington Town with a level of confidence which has been missing for several seasons. The travelling Hyde fans were the 12th man tonight, out singing the home fans and cheering the boys home.

MOM was Captain Paddy Miller winning everything in the air and clearing off the line to make sure the Tigers secured their 5th clean sheet and their third league win on the bounce.
