Darren Kelly & his coaching staff have done a fantastic job in a short space of time since getting hold of the rudder. It is easy to forget how bad things were prior to Darren joining for the final six games of the 2015-2016 season, but we should reflect on the past 18 months and the job that has been done.
The professional approach taken by Darren, David McGurk, Gareth Prendergast, Chris Shaw & Stephanie Todd, supported by the backrooms staff has saved the Club. Full time management on a part time salary, delivering excellence at all levels from the Academy through to the First Team, has seen the clubs fortunes take a very positive upward turn.
This can be very simply analysed through a look at the points per game over the current and past three seasons.
2017-2018: 2 points per game
2016-2017: 1.45 points per game
2015-2016: 0.87 points per game
2014-2015: 0.5 points per game
(Over the past 30 games since December 26th 2016 we have averaged 2.24 points per game with only 3 losses in League and Cup)
The professional approach has resulted in players wanting to join Hyde United again allowing Darren to recruit an outstanding squad. We have leaders all over the pitch, speed in attack, a mix of experience and youthful enthusiasm and a focus on coaching which is providing the players with enough information to help them succeed in games.
Darren is qualified as a coach at Pro License level, supported by A License Coaches David McGurk & Gaz Prendergast, working along side Physio Stef Todd & Keeper Coach Chris Shaw with all of them full time. Below them are the full time Academy Coaching staff delivering important jobs with the development of players like Big Khamsuk & Pete Boyle, along side volunteers working to ensure we have player kits, a fantastic stadium, match day hospitality and fundraising. Everything has been thought of to help the club improve the results on the pitch.
Pre season was planned in detail, with the fitness sessions and match minutes tracked using information from the Analysis department headed up by Shailesh Pindoria and then provided to the Management and Staff after every session. A new scouting network was put in place, with detailed reports on all of our opposition, and new equipment was purchased from Hudl and PlayerTek to make sure we could drill down into our performance.
Our aim is to get out of this division at the earliest opportunity, but this is only a realistic dream because of the hours put in to stop our descent through the leagues. It would be easy to think we have not achieved anything yet, but in reality we have achieved a huge amount.
Lots of hard work ahead, but we are finally looking UP
